New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s Eve has always been a time for looking back on the past twelve months and anticipating the twelve months ahead.  It is a time to reflect on the changes we would like to make in our lives but it is important that the changes we strive for are attainable.

·                    Vow to spend more time with family and friends and value the importance of being with people who appreciate you.  It’s a big morale booster.

·                    If you feel jaded after a hard year, why not opt for a regular fitness routine which will bring far reaching health benefits.

·                    Change your diet to include more healthy foods, certainly possible in this age of abundant fresh fruits and vegetables.

·                    If you are a smoker – vow to quit!! A myriad of over-the-counter nicotine replacement therapies are now readily available.  Even if you have tried before and failed, don’t be disheartened.  On average, smokers try about 4 times before they quit for good.  Just keep thinking about all the benefits of a smoke-free life!!

·                    Enjoy life more and reduce stress levels by taking time out for yourself.  A fat bank account is no substitute for high blood pressure!

·                    Reduce your alcohol intake.  For many people it is unrealistic to quit drinking altogether so try to moderate your intake or taper off gradually.  Both your wallet and your health will benefit!

·                    If money management was a big source of stress last year why not vow to better manage your finances in the coming months.  Just balancing your cheque book is a start!!

·                    If your job is causing you stress or even unhappiness, why not look at the possibilities of a career change.  Just looking at the various options available to you can be refreshing.

·                    Learn a new language or take a college course.  Education is one of the easiest, most motivating New Year’s resolutions to keep.  Challenge your mind and your horizons will expand.

·                    Vow to help others less fortunate.  In today’s society there are many organizations that are in desperate need of volunteer help and the resultant “feel-good” factor is amazingly rewarding

·                    Getting more organized is a goal that is easily achievable whether it is at home (so that your can invite someone over without feeling embarrassed at the mess), or in the office so that you can find the files you are always searching for.

May I wish you a happy, healthy, remarkable new year.
