Feng Shui in the Office

When you have good Feng Shui in your office, whether this is located at home or externally, there is harmony and a spirit of co-operation prevails. Bad Feng Shui can lead to discord and even collapsing profits.

Regular shape rooms are always to be preferred over odd shaped ones. If you are in a management position your room should ideally be located deep inside the office but not at the end of a long corridor.

·                    All protruding corners should be camouflaged with plants.

·                    Avoid sitting directly below an overhead beam.

·                    If a window opens to a view of a sharp angle, keep it permanently closed.

·                    Do not sit directly facing open book shelves

·                    Never sit with your back to the door or a window – you will lack support for your suggestions and ideas.

·                    Never sit too near the door as you will be distracted.

·                    Always sit facing the door at whatever angle you like but ensure that this position does not seem awkward.

·                    Casual furniture should never be L-shaped.  Instead, arrange your seating area and coffee table in such a way to encourage good social interaction between those sitting there.

If you office is at home, make this your place of power.  Whatever you do there leads directly to your prosperity and success.

·                    The more active and people-oriented your work, the more you will benefit from an office in the front of the house.  Where your work is more contemplative and inwardly focused, your ideal work location is toward the back of the house.

·                    Placing your desk is most important and, if possible, run your cables and wiring so that they are not visible.

·                    Because mirrors enlarge and brighten a room they activate energy in a home office but make sure they are not reflecting unpleasant views, such as clutter and general untidiness.

·                    Choose the most comfortable chair you can afford and always sit in it before you buy it to ensure its suitability.

·                    Maintain an organized and clutter-free space.

·                    Take time to personalize your home office with elements that keep you inspired and productive.  You will be surprised at the rewards!
