Simple Ideas To Improve Your Life
If a hectic schedule has made you edgy and irritable take a step back and consider a few simple ideas that may help ease that tension.
· Nourish your friendships. Make a list of those people in your life who increase your sense of wellbeing and happiness. Let them know how much they mean to you and nurture your relationships by making time for people.
· Remove any sense of guilt. Rather than feel wracked with guilt, express regret, learn from your experiences and move forward.
· Appreciate what you have. Have a positive frame of mind, even in the most difficult times, and focus on your blessings. Don’t just think about material things, but focus on non-material wealth such as family and friends, your health and your talents.
· Love yourself. Recognize the “true you” by listing your positive qualities and learn to love the person looking back at you in the mirror.
· Remember to rest. Relaxation is essential to all of us as a way to rejuvenate the body and the mind.
· Pay attention. Life is much simpler when we focus on one task at a time. Try letting go of all thoughts apart from those that relate to what you are about to do.
· Trust your instincts. Learn to trust in the decisions you make and don’t let other people’s opinions undermine your self-confidence.
· Have that difficult conversation. Living with underlying tensions due to ongoing disagreements complicates your life. Try and simplify things by keeping your relationships as open and honest as possible and don’t be afraid to get help from a mediator if necessary.
· Be energetic. Your reserves of energy are often depleted so try to enhance your vitality through positive thinking and looking after your body.
· Start something new. You are never too old to start something new – be a life long learner and you will feel refreshed and invigorated.
· Learn to laugh at yourself. Life is much easier if, occasionally, you can step back and laugh at your failures. This will relieve your stress and give you a better perspective on life.
· Stop hurrying. Don’t confuse moving fast with going somewhere. Hurrying makes you less efficient and more tired. Live at a pace that suits you.
· Finish what you start. Worrying about unfinished jobs is often more painful that just finishing them so make a list of outstanding tasks and try and complete them, one at a time.
Finally, always be young at heart as this is the most effective antidote to ageing and, no matter what is happening in your life today, always hope that tomorrow will be better.
